1. Spring racing carnival

a.k.a “The race that stops a nation”

The Melbourne Cup is Australia’s most prestigious annual thoroughbred horse race. Conducted by the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse as part of the spring carnival in Melbourne. The event is the first Tuesday of November and is known locally as “the race that stops a nation”.

The event is a spectacle of fashion and entertainment, combining friends and families with corporates and celebrities. Firmly established as an unequalled international and Australian draw card, Melbourne embraces domestic and international visitors alike to bask in the excitement and revel in the glamour of the Birdcage, Flemington lawns, marquees and some of the finest hospitality and entertainment it has to offer.

The Spring racing carnival is comprised of four unique race days:

• DAY 1 Saturday – AAMI Victoria Derby Day – October 29
• DAY 2 Tuesday – Emirates Melbourne Cup Day November 1
• DAY 3 Thursday – Crown Oaks Day November 3
• DAY 4 Saturday – Emirates Stakes Day November 5

2. Melbourne Design Market

Melbourne’s original Design Market is the perfect spot for gift shopping and DIY ideas

Melbourne’s original design market returns ahead of the Christmas shopping rush to attract lovers of versatile fashion, homewares and jewellery. This year, Melbourne Design Market will be featuring a selection of hero designers including fashion designer Miranda Dix, who is known for her technology-driven designs and Koncent, a Japanese brand introducing innovative Japanese homewares to Melbourne.

3. Night Noodle Markets

Melbourne is the food capital of Australia, enjoy this month of gastronomic celebrations!

The Night Noodle Markets are back with all the sights, sounds and smells of an Asian hawker market plus the buzz, hype and vibe of a huge outdoor festival. As with previous years, the Night Noodle Markets showcase delicious new food offerings, thirst-quenching drinks and an incredible line-up of entertainment under the stars.

This exciting Melbourne event sees the return of: Wonderbao, Hoy Pinoy as well as desserts from Gelato Messina and Black Star Pastry x N2 Extreme Gelato. Joining them this year are new stalls such as Ok-Nomi, so stay tuned for what is sure to be an incredibly mouth-watering experience.

4. Australian International Tattoo Expo

If you are a tattoo lover, come to find out more about the culture of body ink!

Over 250 tattoo artists come together for a jam-packed weekend of tattoos, pageants and live entertainment. This celebration of creativity and art promotes the skills of world-renowned artists in Australia and around the world. Meet the industry’s most talented artists, research the different tattoo genres, trends and techniques. If you are brave enough you can make an appointment or get inked on the spot!

5. Paradise Music Festival

1, 2 ,3… Let’s have fun!

Paradise is a 3 day music, camping and BYO festival held at Lake Mountain Alpine Resort on the cusp of summer. Paradise is defined by its well-curated all Australian line-up and a striking mountain-top landscape. Three stages define the Paradise experience; a lush grass amphitheater, a lux club and a basement niterie.
The festival lineup explores the alternative music and cultural scenes within Australia, with a focus on experimental and upcoming artists in lieu of conforming to the boundaries of any singular genre. The line-up features a large number of Australian artists.

6. Summer Night Market

Summer Queen Victoria Market is BACK!!!

Fill those Summer nights with Melbourne’s largest and best array of global street food, curated bars, artisan and vintage stall holders and quirky activations. You’ll be rocking out to three live music stages and floating around the historic Market sheds with the cream of Melbourne’s busking scene and roving entertainers. There’s something new to see every week!
